Dolores Point

Description

Traveling high on the rim above Gateway, CO, the Dolores Point trail has some spectacular views of the surrounding area.  On a clear day looking east, you can view the Palisade Wilderness Study Area and spot the Sheep Creek trail (part of the Glade Park to Gateway trip) working its way up from the river to the ridge.  To the north, you can look across the Dolores River gorge to Steamboat Mesa.  To the west, you'll spot Polar Mesa.  And to the southwest, you'll see the La Sal Mountains, usually still snow-capped at this time of year.
